Local Authority Treescapes Fund

Grants are available to enable organisation in the UK to develop and promote sustainable, low-carbon alternatives to the current consumerist and growth-based paradigm. Funding is available for work on better economics, beyond consumerism, new voices and responding to the dual harms of Covid-19 and systemic racism.

SME Brexit Support Fund – HMRC

Grants are available to help small UK businesses with changes to trade rules with the EU (incl. new customs, rules of origin and VAT arrangements). This is a £20m programme with traders able to apply for up to £2,000 for grants for training  and grants for professional advice.

The Run Fund

UK Community Ownership FundThe UK government launched the new £150m fund to help ensure that communities can support and continue benefitting from the local facilities, community assets and amenities most important to them. Community groups will be able to bid for up to £250,000 matched-funding to help them buy or take over local community assets at risk of being lost, to run as community-owned businesses. The first bidding round will open by June 2021. A full bidding prospectus will be published alongside this.

 

UK Community Renewal Fund – following last week’s funding alert, where details of the new funding programme were announced, West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) have scheduled a stakeholder event on Thursday 1st April, between 2.30pm and 4pm. This will be hosted through a zoom call. The Fund is time limited and aims to prepare the UK for the introduction of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund through pilot programmes with a focus on investment in skills, for local business, in communities and place and supporting people into employment.

 

The Safer Streets Fund has doubled to £45m – The government has doubled the Safe Streets fund to provide better lighting and CCTV following the death of Sarah Everard. This will target areas of potential concern such as parks and alleyways.

 

Government Announces Changes to Plug-in Vehicle Grants – the Government’s Plug In Vehicle Grant (PIVG) scheme for electric cars, vans and trucks has been updated to target less expensive models and reflect a greater range of available affordable vehicles.  The aim is to allow the scheme’s funding to go further and help more people make the switch to an electric vehicle. From 18 March 2021, grants of up to £2,500 will be provided for electric vehicles under £35,000. Grants will no longer be available for higher-priced vehicles. The Government asserts that purchasers of such vehicles are typically drivers who can afford to switch without taxpayer subsidy.

 

Farmers invited to Participate in Sustainable Farming Incentive Pilotthe Sustainable Farming Incentive is a new scheme rewarding environmental land management. Due to go live from mid-2022, it will give farmers and opportunity to secure an income stream to their farm business by undertaking sustainable actions that benefit the environment. Prior to the launch next year, the scheme is being piloted with England’s farmers through a co-design process.  The scheme will initially be available to Basic Payment Schemes recipients and will be extended and expanded over time.
